Polk County District Court results

In Polk County District Court on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, with Judge Emily G. Cowan presiding, 100 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.

The following persons were convicted of a crime:

Richard Lashawn Dendy was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Dendy was fined $40 and court costs.

Kathryn Marie Fraboni was convicted of rear seat belt violation. Fraboni was fined $100.

Thomas Earl Grant Jr. was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Grant was fined $40 and court costs.

Christopher W. Greene was convicted of operating a vehicle with improper equipment. Greene was fined $40 and court costs.

James Everett Halbkat was convicted of rear seat belt violation. Halbkat was fined $100.

Erin Greenlee Hip was convicted of rear seat belt violation. Hip was fined $100.

Matthew Brian Horton was convicted of possession of marijuana paraphernalia. Horton was fined $25 and court costs.

Donnie Tyler C. Kanupp was convicted of rear seat belt violation. Kanupp was fined $50.

Jason Thomas Martin was convicted of rear seat belt violation. Martin was fined $100.

Jeffrey T. McMellion was convicted of rear seat belt violation. McMellion was fined $100.

Jessica Seria Neal was convicted of speeding 74 mph in a 65 mph zone. Neal was fined $25 and court costs.

Shelby Marye Wells was convicted of rear seat belt violation. Wells was fined $100.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office

During the month of December 2016, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office answered 731 calls for service.

There were 16 felony arrests, 32 misdemeanor arrests and 21 citations issued.

Officers served 85 civil papers, 31 criminal papers, completed 1,470 house checks, 3,448 business checks, 1,863 church checks, assisted the public 20 times and patrolled 29,381 miles.

The Polk County Jail booked a total of 95 inmates, including 62 males and 33 females.
