When He knocks, will you answer?

Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to Him and dine with him, and he with Me.”

At times, people can be hard to reach. For many reasons, people like to hide, isolate themselves, and cut off any opportunity for someone to reach out to them

I was in South Baltimore, Md. trying to visit some folks on behalf of the church plant we were working with at the time. A couple of team members and I were inviting people to a relationship with Jesus and letting them know of the new church coming into town.

We went to one house, and we saw a man standing in his yard, but he saw us coming and ran inside, shut the door, and closed his windows. When we came to knock on the door, I heard a voice from the inside that said, “No one’s home!”

Sometimes it really is hard to reach people. Did you know that Jesus is trying to reach you? Jesus has issued a personal invitation for you to open up your heart to Him. His invitation is one that you will not want to pass up! Open the door, and allow Jesus to make His home in your heart. Open the door, and allow Him to reach your soul. He knocks, and He waits for you to respond.

You may be thinking, I’ve never felt God knocking at my heart’s door. You have the promise of His Word today that He does. Christ is looking for anyone to open their heart up to Him. There has never been a man, woman, boy or girl who has ever lived that did not receive this invitation. You may not get as many invitations as someone else gets, and you may not have as long to respond as others get to respond, but Christ still knocks at your door. Wherever there is a beating heart in the world, there is a desiring Savior knocking at your door.

He knocks in every season of life … whether you feel unworthy, unwanted, unloved, or unneeded. He knocks when you are at your best, and when you are at your worst. He knocks in life’s most joyous moments, and in life’s most difficult moments. Rest assured, He’s reaching, and He is waiting for you to respond to His glorious invitation to allow Him in.

If you would like to receive Christ’s free gift of salvation, you can put your faith in Jesus Christ right now. Believe on Him today, and you will be saved (Acts 16:31). Confess your sin, and believe that He came, died, and was raised to life for you. Commit your life to Him.

W.A. Criswell, a late Texas pastor, said so beautifully, “What a wonderful thing that God should seek for a man, made of dust, who blasphemes, who sins, and curses God, and doubts His grace, and repudiates His mercy, and does despite His Spirit. What an amazing, and overwhelming thing that God should seek a man!”

You have an incredible invitation to eternal life and joy through Jesus Christ. Will you allow Him in?
