► Former Stonecutter property to be used for new businesses
Daystar Enterprises President Jerry Thomas has recently finalized the purchase of a 43-acre property near Polk County Middle School containing the former Stonecutter building for what Thomas said are four businesses planned in the new year. The first business will sell and lease 20-foot and 40-foot shipping containers behind the building. Thomas said he would also use the property to store, wash and detail horse trailers in addition to other types of trailers. He also plans to utilize the parking lot in front of the building to sell park units and have an RV center behind the building.
► Melrose Inn in Tryon to host 2017 Chamber of Commerce Awards
The Melrose Inn in Tryon will be hosting the 29th annual Chamber of Commerce Awards Celebration on Jan. 31, 2017 at 6 p.m. Particular individuals who have volunteered their time and shown extraordinary efforts, according to Chamber Executive Director Janet Sciacca, receive awards at the celebration.
