COLUMBUS-The Polk County Toy Run will be this Saturday, Nov. 26 with organizers encouraging residents to attend.

This year the toy run has seen the largest number of sponsors at 122. The Toy Run Committee sold 150 shirts within the first 12 hours of receiving the shipment. Another order will be available for sale at the Toy Run, which begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Saluda Fire Department.

The Toy Run begins at the Saluda Fire Department, with motorcyclists leaving Saluda at 2 p.m. Motorcycles will travel down Hwy. 176 from Saluda through downtown Tryon and into Landrum, then cross over the railroad tracks through Landrum, to Landrum Road into Green Creek, then up Hwy. 9 to Mill Spring and ending at the historic Polk County Courthouse. Motorcyclists and residents can drop off toys at the courthouse, with the run normally ending there around 3 p.m. Organizers encourage residents to come to the courthouse, as well as support riders as they come through the towns.

Money raised through sponsorships of the toy run and the run help ensure that children in Polk County have a bright Christmas. Santa makes an appearance at the run as well.

The toy run is coordinated by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Steps to HOPE, the Polk County Department of Social Services and Thermal Belt Outreach. Toys collected from the toy run are distributed throughout the county by these organizations.
