Calvin Garry Thompson, 71, of Lynn, N.C. passed away Friday afternoon, November 18, 2016 at Regency Hospital of Greenville.

A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late Calvin and Thelma Bradshaw Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. In his free time, he enjoyed golf and fishing.

Surviving is one sister, Linda Thompson Gillie of Columbus, N.C.; two nephews, Stephen “Craig” Gillie (Kathryn) of Tryon, N.C. and Chris (Kristy) Gillie of Landrum, S.C.; one niece, Sharon Green of Columbus, N.C.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C. with Reverend David Bame officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, N.C. with military honors by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
