As the Party Rock fire continues to spread in Rutherford County, local residents are donating items for volunteers fighting the 3,500 acre fire in nearby Lake Lure that started Nov. 5. Pictured is Bobby Cooper, Roger Roberts and David Cooper getting donations together in Mill Spring over the weekend to take to the command center in Lake Lure. Ash has fallen as far south as Boiling Springs, S.C., as reported by readers, and a smoky smell and haze permeates the area. No rain is in the 10-day forecast.
