To the editor:

Once a year, for two hours, Tryon has the privilege to have thousands of bicyclists stop in town before completing a grueling circuit though our mountains.

They come from far and wide, raising money for a good cause.

It is wonderful to see people willing to go to such extent of physical efforts for the benefit of others less fortunate.

Tryon should be proud to host them, free of charge, once a year, for less than two hours.

It is not an inconvenience. It is an honor to be part of a celebration of the human charitable spirit that we are given to witness.

Many thanks to Gran Fondo for allowing our town to be part of their cause in such a small way … for free.
