In blessed peace, Katharine Boerner Rindge continued her journey the morning of Nov. 1, 2016, at her home in Columbus, N.C., surrounded by her husband and children.
Her life of love, creation and beauty began Dec. 1, 1938, in New York City where she was born to Martin and Katharine Boerner.
Katharine began sharing her gift of art while earning a bachelor of fine arts degree at Ohio Wesleyan University. She and beloved husband Fred Hamilton Rindge, IV, were married July 2, 1960, and they moved around the United States with her husband’s career in the Air Force and as a chiropractor while raising three children. Katharine and Fred moved to Tryon, N.C., in 1980.
Katharine nurtured and guided her family throughout their lives, blending a mother’s tenderness, an artist’s creativity, and an awareness of all things beautiful. And she accomplished this with elegance and grace.
Beyond her devotion as wife and mother, Katharine was an award-winning modern artist, and while in Tryon was involved with the Tryon Youth Center and Tryon Fine Arts Center. Her passion for food and nutrition was shared for the good and the growth of those around her. Katharine brought beauty and love to everything she did and to everyone she touched.
Among those who continue to be bathed by her essence are her husband; son Fred and wife Brenda Rindge of Charleston, S.C.; daughter Karen Rindge and husband Reid Wilson of Raleigh; son Sean Rindge and husband Hillery Rink of Atlanta; and grandchildren Brianna Rindge of Atlanta; Nick Rindge and daughter-in-law Meagan Rindge; Ben Rindge and Cassidy Rindge, all of Charleston; and Drew Wilson and Savannah Wilson of Raleigh.
