Vernell McDowell, who turned 100 years old on Sept. 1, visited the Green Creek Fire Department on Monday morning to cast her vote during early voting in the 2016 election along with her daughter-in-law Nancy McDowell, right, and her son Thomas, left. McDowell, a native of Green Creek who now lives at LaurelHurst in Columbus, said she has voted in every election since she was first able to. She said  her father told her she was “Democrat born and Democrat bred and when I die I’ll be Democrat dead.” McDowell said she would be voting for Hillary Clinton this year.
