Polk County senior India Godlock won her third Western Highlands Conference cross country title on Thursday.

India Godlock captured her second straight Western Highlands Conference cross country title on Thursday, easily winning the WHC meet at Montreat College.

Godlock finished the 5K course in 20:30.90, more than 20 seconds ahead of Hendersonville’s Evan Goff. It marked Godlock’s third WHC championship, with the Polk senior finishing second in her other conference meet during her four-year career.

Godlock was named the WHC Runner of the Year for her finish.

Both Polk County teams placed third in the team standings.

Hendersonville easily captured the girls team title, claiming five of the top seven finishers and seven of the top 10.

Polk County’s Chris Lawrence and Evan Dadson earned all-WHC honors, placing eighth and ninth.

Hendersonville’s Jacob Allen won the WHC boys title with a time of 18:19.20. Madison claimed five of the top 10 spots to take home the team title.

Polk County runners will now turn their focus to the 2A West Regional, set for Oct. 29 in Morganton.
