Suburban Angst

Suburban Angst

Happy fifth anniversary to Tryon Beer Fest, presented by New View Realty! Beer lovers are already buzzing about the exciting craft beer line up, the outstanding food selection including the ever-popular oyster roast, and the fun and games that are in store. But the biggest buzz going is the music! Why you ask? Because last year’s rock band is back by popular demand!

Beer Fest committee members couldn’t go five minutes last year without being asked by festival attendees, “These guys are awesome, where did they come from?” Requests poured in via email for their return this year. You asked, we listened!

Please join us as we warmly welcome back Atlanta’s Suburban Angst. They play rockin’ cover tunes that will get us all jumping to our feet and shaking our tail feathers for the second half of our festival. For over seven years, they have played for large private parties, Atlanta bar scenes, community wide music venues, and fundraisers. The band has also been a fixture as of late at the BB&T Atlanta Tennis Open. They play modern rock and alternative with a few deeper cuts to “keep ‘em guessing.” They kick out hits from U2 to REM, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Cage the Elephant just to name a few. Band members say, ”We’re all about helping you to have fun and release your inner ANGST!”

Kicking off the Tryon Beer Fest will be Asheville’s own party polka band, Lagerhosen, to get us all in the Octoberfest mood. This band embraces a natural Bavarian influence with their five-piece Munich stylings. Their marches, waltzes and drinking songs will surely get you grabbing your partner to get your polka on.

Lagerhosen features ‘Tall Paul’ Leech on sousaphone, Lois ‘Polka-hontis’ Jolly on trombone, Johanna Domka on trumpet, and David “Sticks” McNabb on drums.

Special guests include vocalists, more horns and Club Mayhem, our dance troupe of pretty girls and handsome guys. Conceived in 2013, the group has performed at several area clubs and events, notably the 2015 Asheville Octoberfest and Sierra Nevada’s massive opening celebration last fall.

They will be in full Bavarian style costumes, and may even join dancing Beer Fest goers to show them a new step or two, but a definite “beer cheers” will be encouraged throughout their performance! Eins, Zwei, g’Suffa!
