The Tryon Branch of the American Association of University Women is pleased to join in the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Polk County Library building in Columbus. The next general AAUW meeting will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24, in the library meeting room.
Library director, Rishara Finsel, will speak on “Create, Connect, Explore: Re-imagining Public Libraries.” Ms. Finsel is a native of North Carolina, educated at Berea College and the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. She has an impressive record of accomplishments in library work both as a student and later employed by the Flathead County Library System in Kalispell, Mont.
Since she became library director in Polk County in February, 2014, circulation has increased about 35 percent. The library board and staff have conducted an assessment of the needs of the community and have developed a strategic plan to provide the resources and services that will benefit the residents of Polk County. Everyone is invited to come learn how the library is much more than a place to check out a book for two weeks!
