Siegfried collecting items for homeless youth as part of senior project

Polk County senior Macie Siegfried will host a necessities drive for the Trinity Place Homeless and Runaway Youth Shelter in Asheville on Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Bi-Lo parking lot in Columbus.

Siegfried’s effort is part of her senior project focusing on homelessness among youth, with her mentor part of the administrative staff at Trinity Place.

Items needed for the drive include paper towels, Clorox wipes, liquid body wash, toilet paper, toothbrushes, toothpaste, band aids, deodorant, batteries, feminine hygiene products, thick socks, cotton swabs, razors and food items (spaghetti noodles/sauce, macaroni and cheese, etc.).

Those who wish to donate, but can’t make it to Columbus on Saturday, can drop off donations at Polk County High School with English teacher Angie McCammon.
