Be A Voice 4 Kids is sponsoring a winter coat and blanket blessing event this Saturday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Columbus Fire Department. There will be items for both children and adults. This event is free to the public.

The fire department will offer basic first aid training, CPR and fire extinguisher training during the event. The Columbus Fire Department is located at 100 Peak Street, Columbus, N.C.

Mary Edwards, Be a Voice 4 Kids founder, will be present to distribute referral and resource information in efforts to prevent and end child sexual abuse in the county.

Both organizations strive to make our community a safer, happier and healthier place.
