Marino qualifies for powerlifting world championship meet

Furman University sophomore Anthony Marino captured a pair of powerlifting titles at the WPNF Palmetto Push/Pull Championships held Sept. 24 at Furman. Competing in the 165-pound class, Marino, a 2015 Polk County High School graduate, bench pressed 250 pounds and had a dead lift of 410 pounds for a total of 660, earning the Ironman award in the division. With his performance, Marino qualified for the 25th annual WPNF World Championships, set for Nov. 11-13 in Bordentown, N.J. (Submitted by PolkSports.com)
