Landrum’s football players and coaches will put Friday’s 17-16 loss to Walhalla behind them, and concentrate on this Friday’s (Sept. 30) game at Chesnee.
At Walhalla, each team had a chance to up its season record to 3-2, but only the Razorbacks managed, and by that single point.
It was a good high school football game,” reported Landrum head coach Jason Farmer. “Our kids played hard.” Farmer noted that playing hard has been a Landrum hallmark this season.
“Someone had to lose. We’re a whole lot better 3-2 team than we were a year ago.”
We just didn’t come out on top,” Farmer noted of Friday’s game. You’ve got to move on.”
In the back-and-forth scoring, the Cardinals’ Turner Ussery hit Rashaun Brown and Easton Jenkins with caught touchdown passes. Jesus Alviar made one extra point, uncharacteristically missed one, but kicked a field goal.
Chesnee (3-3) will be the Cardinals’ first of four conference opponents this season. This will also be the Eagles’ first conference game of the year. Opening kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Chesnee.
