Big Brothers Big Sisters was pleased to accept a generous donation recently from the American Legion Polk County Memorial Post 250. The local American Legion provides support for area veterans, promotes and supports legislative programs for veterans and their families, participates in parades, military funerals and area events, and supports citizens and youth in our community.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a youth service organization that provides mentoring programs for children in local schools and communities. “Littles,” ages 6-14, are paired with screened and trained volunteer “Bigs” for an hour a week to help children achieve in school or for twice monthly outings in the community.

Volunteers are needed for a minimum one-year commitment. Please contact BBBS at 828-859-9230 or email polk@bbbswnc.org for more information on how to get involved.
