Polk boys soccer squad tops Mountain Heritage in conference opener

Jonah Wyatt made seven saves and Polk County scored the first three goals Monday en route to a 3-1 win over Mountain Heritage in a Western Highlands Conference match in Burnsville.
The Wolverines opened conference play on a solid note, snapping a four-match streak without a victory. Polk County improved to 3-5-1 overall.
Alex Pearson scored in the 21st minute in the first half to give the Wolverines an early lead. Edwin Ramirez followed in the 35th minute, scoring off a corner kick by Carson Marshall, to give Polk a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Isaias Akers upped the lead to 3-0, with an assist by Isaac Edwards, in the 54th minute before Mountain Heritage (0-4, 0-2) scored in the 57th minute.
Polk County will be back in action on Wednesday, hosting Mitchell at 5:30 p.m. That game will be played in G.M. Tennant Stadium.
