On Sunday, Sept. 11, the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District will conduct its annual observance of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks against the United States.
This year’s observance will take place at First Baptist Church of Landrum from 6 p.m. until approximately 7:30 p.m.
As a symbol of honor and remembrance we are holding a non-perishable food drive and asking all to participate to refill the church pantries.
In addition, Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District will accept non-perishable food items to continue the district’s Backpack Program that helps ensure our area’s underprivileged children have food when school is not in session.
The observance will include a 9/11 tribute video; speakers Steve Boehm of the New York Fire Department, Shannon Dotson of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District and Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger; a message from Brannon Poore of the Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District; a dove release ceremony; and light refreshments in Fellowship Hall. Recognition of first responders to 9/11 will also be done during Sunday’s observance.
The Landrum Area Fire and Rescue District wishes to offer a special thanks to each of the evening’s event participants, First Baptist Church of Landrum, the City of Inman Fire Department, the Town of Campobello Fire Department and all first responders across the nation who place their lives in harm’s way every day to protect their friends and neighbors.
