The Polk County Historical Society will meet at the Polk County Museum at 60 Walker Street in Columbus on Sept. 6 at 2:30 p.m. After a brief business meeting, a program will be presented featuring the First Baptist Church of Tryon by Elizabeth Burrell and Carroll Brady.

The church has been celebrating their 125-year anniversary throughout this year which will culminate with Homecoming Day on Oct. 2. Mrs. Burrell has been a member for 40 years and Mr. Brady’s membership spans over 80 years. They have many interesting historical stories about one of the oldest churches in Polk County. The PCHA programs are open to the general public.
