TRYON – Tryon Little Theater (TLT) has purchased new property for a new home.

TLT members held a ceremony to celebrate the purchase on Tuesday, Aug. 23. The property is located where a small yellow house stands at 437 North Trade St. adjacent to School Street at Tryon Elementary School. The property consists of 1.72 acres.

“This 68-year old theater has been through a lot,” Kocher said. “Thanks to the efforts of many people we are starting the process by the purchase of this land for the Tryon Little Theater to have its own home.”

Kocher said Marianne Brown, a talented actress, director and music director for many years at TLT, left TLT a generous gift that made the theater group sure it could make this happen.

She also said the Polk County Community Foundation, the Bessemer Trust and generous donors support TLT unceasingly.

“The hard working volunteers and visionaries that are standing here tonight are amazing and gifted,” said Kocher. “TLT has such a rich history and such amazing people that work so hard day after day, month after month, year after year.”

Kocher asked the crowd to raise glasses of champagne, saying TLT is going to need everyone to help make this dream a reality.

The crowd closed the ceremony by singing “There’s No Business Like Show Business.”

TLT was founded in 1948, and currently operates out of 516 S. Trade St.
