Raymond “Ray” Nicholas Karaiseky

Raymond “Ray” Nicholas Karaiseky, 62, of Landrum, S.C. passed away on Tuesday afternoon, August 9, 2016 at the Smith Phayer Hospice House in Landrum, S.C.

Ray was born in France to the late Nicholas Francis and Philomen Inglese Kariseky. He spent his younger years growing up in Long Island, N.Y. At the age of 17, Ray enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country for 14 years. Upon retirement from the military he was employed as a manager at Ingles in Landrum, S.C.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a daughter, Clarissa Gordon and a son, Thomas Gordon.

Surviving is his loving wife of 20 years Jackie Karaiseky, a daughter, Amanda Owensby of Asheville, N.C.; two granddaughters, Faith and Carrie Owensby. Also surviving is a brother, James Karaiseky (Laura) of Campobello, S.C., and two sisters, Roseanna Butler of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Melvina  Cambridge (Kirmet) of Roebuck, S.C.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2016 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lynn Stewart officiating with military rites by the Polk County Memorial Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Sunday from 1-1:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Dr. Columbus, NC 28722.
