Defending Western Highlands Conference volleyball champion Polk County hit the court early Monday for the first practice of the season.

With high school teams allowed to officially begin the fall season on Monday, the Wolverines welcomed nearly 20 players to the opening tryout session as head coach Molly Hill began the process of determining this season’s roster.

Polk County is slated to take part in preseason action on Saturday, traveling to Hendersonville for the Xcel Jamboree. The Wolverines open the season on August 17, hosting Rosman in a non-conference match.
