The 17th season of Tryon’s most popular summer event, Summer Tracks, continues on Friday, Aug. 5 with Gigi Dover & The Big Love. The show begins at 7 p.m. in Rogers Park.

Incorporating the sounds and vibes of world instruments, Gigi Dover & The Big Love deliver a fresh blend of gypsy, jazzy, bluesy, funky Southern Soul and World Music. An uplifting musical experience somewhere between Marvin Gaye and Fiddler on the Roof, their music has been described as “World Music through the eyes and ears of Southerners.”

Gigi Dover and Eric Lovell just released their seventh studio recording titled “Travelin’ Thru,” a collection of songs and a few short whimsical instrumentals, more wood than steel, designed to inspire the listener to “dance, meditate, or anything in between.”

With this release, Gigi and Eric celebrate the 14-year mark on their collaborative musical journey. Countless tours and gigs both regionally and internationally, through the US, the UK and Europe have garnered them recognition and success from fans, peers and critics alike. Tonight’s band features John Spurrier on drums and Flavio Mangione on bass.

This is the fifth of six Summer Tracks concerts scheduled for this season. Each summer, this well produced series attracts more than 2,000 people to Tryon’s Rogers Park, drawing visitors from all over Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina.

As with all Summer Tracks concerts, the show is free, though a voluntary donation at the gate is encouraged. Audience donations along with the generous sponsorships of local businesses and individuals make these shows possible. Manna Cabana’s delicious fresh food and homemade ice cream, water and soft drinks will be for sale.

Summer Tracks is produced by the Town of Tryon in affiliation with Peter Eisenbrown of Blockparty Productions. For more information about Summer Tracks and the performers visit summertracks.com.

The last Summer Tracks concert will be on August 19 and will feature The Honeycutters (honeycutters.com), our region’s favorite Americana band based in Asheville, N.C. which has just released their new album  “On The Ropes.”
