Landrum resident dead, two injured following Sunday wreck

LANDRUM – According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a Sunday afternoon wreck two miles south of Landrum has left one dead and two injured.

The wreck, according to officials, occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on SC 11 and involved two vehicles. One vehicle was headed northbound while the other was headed in the opposite direction.

The driver heading northbound crossed the center line and struck the vehicle heading southbound head on, according to the Spartanburg County police report. The driver of the vehicle heading northbound was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital by Greenville County EMS.

Beverly McAbee Page, 60-year-old resident of Landrum, succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital, according to Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger. She was allegedly not wearing a seatbelt.

Eddie Moncriel, a 73-year-old resident of Inman and 19-year-old Sue Moncriel, his passenger, were both injured in the accident. The passenger was transported to Spartanburg Regional by EMS, while the driver was transported to Mission Hospital in Asheville. Both were wearing seat belts.

An ongoing investigation by the South Carolina Highway Department and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office is underway.
