A mother bear and her cubs showed up at the home of Margaret Kell on New Market Rd. in Tryon (near the Blockhouse) on Friday, July 22 at 4:30 p.m. They checked out the bird feeder and water dish. They were then chased off with an air horn, but this was not the first visit by the cubs to this yard. Meanwhile, on Lakota Lane on the same day, a black bear cub enjoyed the contents of Maggie McLeod’s hummingbird feeder, around 8:30 p.m. (Photos submitted by Margaret Kell and Maggie McLeod)
