He loved anything to do with cars, to “wheel and deal,” travel, drive, ride motorcycles, fish, ski, and above all, the North Carolina Mountains. He could often be seen tooling around town in his daily uniform – a Hawaiian shirt, a Panama Jack hat, and a pair of cowboy boots. Stan was a firm believer that God made the sky Carolina blue.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clannie, mother, Lila, and a sister, Betty Carr of Deland, Fla. He is survived by a brother, Halford, of Tryon, and two sisters, Rosemary Blackwell of Pensacola, Fla. and Carolyn Hayes of Chesnee, S.C. He was Dad to Dustin and Shannon, and “Poppy” to his only grandchild Kaya, all three of Greenville, S.C.

In accordance with his wishes, Stan’s family will be scattering his ashes at Mt. Mitchell so that he can forever rest in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina that he so loved.
