Last minute request for trail volunteer assistance
Published 10:00 pm Thursday, July 21, 2016
Dave Mathern, Polk County Recreation Trails Coordinator, has been working with Adrian Lively, a Polk County High School student, to reroute the Yellow Trail in the PAC protected Norman Wilder Forest.
Dave is one of two AmeriCorps members working in the county and, unfortunately, his term ends at the end of July.
Dave and PAC are interested in seeing the rerouted trail to completion before his departure. Therefore, PAC has scheduled a volunteer trail workday on Monday, July 25.
Volunteers are asked to meet at the former UPPER parking lot at PAC’s Norman Wilder Forest, off Tau Rock Vineyard Road/Lane. The workday will last from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Bring loppers if you have them.
The terrain is pretty steep so a good pair of boots is recommended, as well as gloves and appropriate clothing.
PAC will provide water and snacks, but you may want to bring any water and food that you think you may require.
Thank you to Dave and Adrian for all of their hard work and dedication in working on the trails at Norman Wilder Forest thus far!
