Legion Auxiliary to host founders of Amputee Outdoors

On Tuesday, Aug. 2, the American Legion Auxiliary is having a special program featuring two veterans who are amputees. Anyone and everyone who is interested is invited to come to the meeting at 7 p.m. at the Legion post on Depot St. in Tryon.

Amputee Outdoors was co-founded by Tony Mullis and Michael Boucher. Both young men lost both of their legs while serving in Afghanistan with the Marines. They have rediscovered their love of the outdoors even with their disability and want to pass on this new ability to other veterans and amputees.

Tony says, “Being outdoors for me now gives me a clear mind from every day life and helps me relax.”

Although these men are from out of state they are close friends of the wife of one of their comrades who died in action and who lives in Landrum.
