Lanier Library is pleased to welcome area writers to share works in progress at the quarterly Literary Open Stage, Thursday, July 21, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the library, with readings beginning at 7 p.m. Aspiring writers toss their names in Sidney’s beret, with 10 chosen readers each given 10 minutes of reading time.

A new feature of the program is a 15-minute introductory reading by a local published author. The July author is Mary Ann Claud, a Tryon writer who has recently published her second novel, “Whirlygig.”

In addition to reading from her novel, Claud will describe the successful self-publishing journey that has culminated in more than 70 personal appearances throughout North and South Carolina, and favorable reviews in Kirkus and Goodreads. She will also sign book plates for those who wish to purchase a book at a later time from The Bookshelf.
