Polk recreation summer day camp has more than 170 campers

The Polk County Recreation Department Summer Day Camp has begun with over 170 campers signed up this year. Campers will swim at Gibson Park Pool, play at Stearns Gym and take field trips, including to Bright’s Creek for golf lessons, Gravitopia, a Greenville Drive baseball game, Carl Sandburg Home, the bowling alley and a kayaking trip with Green River Adventures. Gibson Park Pool activities for the summer

Gibson Park Pool, Polk County’s public swimming pool, is open and has several activities for the community to enjoy this summer. Swimming lessons are available throughout the summer as well as daily swimming and lap swimming. Residents can also rent out the pool for pool parties. Saluda sets public hearing on zoning changes for July 11

The City of Saluda has scheduled a public hearing on July 11 to hear comments regarding a proposed zoning ordinance amendment to allow changes to accessory building requirements and to establish an interstate basin overlay district from I-26 to Thompson Rd. One change in the overlay district is proposed to increase the size of a pole sign in that district. The public hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the upstairs conference room of the Saluda Library.
