Summer Fun Days is a Day Camp sponsored by the Unity in the Community Organization, and funded by a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation. The summer camp is being held every Tuesday, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at 5620 Pea Ridge Rd, Mill Spring, N.C. The camp is free to all Polk County and Landrum area youth ages 8-16. Registration remains open with breakfast and lunch served daily.

The kick off of Summer Fun Days began Tuesday, June 21, with breakfast at the camp. Afterward all traveled to the Tryon International Equestrian Center where an excited group of children and adults heard from South Carolina’s leading running back and San Francisco 49ers’ Marcus Lattimore.

•   Set a goal for yourself; write your goals down and put it on your door.

•   Do everything you can do to achieve that goal; don’t let anything steer you away from your goal.

•   Keep a positive attitude; every day you wake up, be thankful for what you have.

•   There are going to be some things in your life that won’t go your way, but keep going, keep pushing, and keep striving.

•   Surround yourself with people who have the same attitude as you do.

When asked by one of the young attendees, what was Mr. Lattimore’s greatest achievement his reply was “accepting Jesus Christ in his life.”

The Unity in the Community organization was fortunate to be able to have such a notable football celebrity speak to our youth. The venue was made possible by funds from Polk County Community Foundation.
