Darren Hicks Hodge, age 47, of Rutherfordton, N.C., died Monday, June 20, 2016, at his residence.

He was the son of the late Dolphus Hicks Hodge.

Darren was a native Rutherford County. He was also a member of Piney Knob Baptist Church. Darren worked as a dispatcher for Polk County 911 Communications. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Shingle Hollow Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his mother and step-father Willie Hodge Boone and Jerry Boone; one son, Joshua Fisher and his wife Geena; one grand son, Landen Fisher; fiancé Rhonda Swink; one sister Deneen Cook and her husband David.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, June 23, 2016 at McMahan’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2016 at Piney Knob Baptist Church with Reverend Michael Brown and Reverend Bryan Hardin officiating. Interment will be in Piney Knob Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rutherford County Firefighters Honor Guard will provide Funeral Honors.
