Polk sheriff’s office arrests two for trafficking meth

the Polk County Sheriff’s Office after officers discovered 34 grams of methamphetamine in their vehicle. 

On Tuesday, June 14, deputies with the sheriff’s office’s PACE Team encountered a vehicle they called suspicious at the rest area along I-26 in Columbus.

Officers said the occupants became nervous and were evasive with answers, so they called in K9 “Rento,” who is certified to detect illegal drugs.

Bobby Lee Jackson, 34, of Deaverville Rd., Asheville, was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance, according to sheriff reports.

Christy Lynn Creek, 29, of Lavonia, Ga., was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance and child abuse.

Rento indicated on the vehicle during the search and officers said Jackson made a motion that also alerted the deputies.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by a N.C. State Highway Patrol trooper, with the trooper and deputies finding five grams of methamphetamine in Jackson’s pants and another 29 grams of methamphetamine in a container in the vehicle as well as approximately two grams of marijuana, according to sheriff reports.

The vehicle was owned by Creek, who was the passenger and was travelling with her four-year-old child. The child was turned over to another family member.

Jackson was being held at the Polk County Jail this week under a $46,000 bond.
