The Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity organization provided the expertise and labor for the construction of a carport at the gatekeeper’s cottage at Pearson’s Falls. The project was completed over several weeks in May and done with the Tryon Garden Club.

The caretaker’s cottage at Pearson’s Falls has a great new carport thanks to the cooperative effort of the Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity organization and the Tryon Garden Club. TBHFH member Jim White designed and led the construction and Lee Cobourn was the point person. Eighteen additional TBHFH builders worked with them. The crew worked quickly during the middle of May to build a solid, sturdy and cost effective structure.

The project was initiated following a suggestion that TBHFH might be willing to help the Tryon Garden Club build this much-needed addition to the caretaker’s cottage. Tryon Garden Club paid for the materials and site preparation, Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity provided the labor. The two organizations worked together to make the project a success. The Tryon Garden Club wants to thank them very much for their help.
