The eighth annual Memorial Day Singing for Soldiers will take place Monday, May 30, Memorial Day, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Columbus Veterans Park, at Gibson and Ward Street.

For almost a decade the organization has collected and shipped thousands of care packages to our troops overseas and in military hospitals. The event features gospel music by the gospel music hall of fame member Archie Watkins, formerly of the Legendary Inspirations Quartet, the top 40 southern gospel group Soul Vision from Hendersonville, and Saluda-based Colt Creek Bluegrass.

Hot dog plates, grilled corn on the cob and drinks and desserts will also be on sale to raise money for care package items and shipping costs. Any size monetary donation is welcome.

A special patriotic presentation will be held to honor the Polk county men who sacrificed all on this sacred holiday. Come and honor our heroes.
