James Arthur Johnson, 96, of Melvin Hill, N.C. passed away on May 21, 2016.

He was the son of the late Thomas Foster and Pearl Reed Johnson and widower of Ruby Mahaffey Johnson.

He is survived by a son, Sterling Johnson and wife Diane of Melvin Hill; two daughters, Melanie Greenway and husband Brad of Rutherfordton, and Renee Camp and husband Frank of Lattimore; a sister, Shirley Gilbert of Sunny View; seven grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Earl and Donnie Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Melvin Hill Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the church conducted by Rev. Frank Camp, Rev. Craig Scruggs and Rev. Earl Byers. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
