Riding to the hounds sailcloth

Riding to the Hounds in Tryon inspired John Wolf Textiles of New York to design this traditional hunt scene. In honor of the Tryon Hounds, it was screen-painted on pure cotton in 1967. The material sold for $1.99 a yard at Ivey’s Department Store in Greenville, S.C.

Visit the Polk County History Museum at 60 Walker St. in Columbus to see this display and others of local interest. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Individual tours are available for your out of town guests and special occasions.
