Multiple fire departments respond to out of hand control burn at TIEC

Most Polk County fire departments responded to the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) on Tuesday afternoon after a controlled burn got out of control.

The property is owned by TIEC where brush was being burned and the fire got out of hand, according to reports. The area of the burning is adjacent to TIEC on Pea Ridge Road. TIEC is clearing land and has been burning the brush. No buildings were threatened by the fire, according to reports. The fire was put out around 7 p.m. after the fire was reported around 4 p.m.

According to the Polk County Emergency Management Department, a building permit for the burning was obtained from the N.C. Forest Service.
