Kenneth Eugene Olmstead

Kenneth Eugene Olmstead, age 84 of Tryon, N.C., died Tuesday, March 15, 2016.
Mr. Olmstead was born August 8, 1931 in Iowa. Mr. Olmstead served in the US Navy during both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He retired from Leonard’s Hardware in Russellville, Arkansas and was a member of First Baptist Church while living there. Mr. Olmstead lived in Russellville for 32 years before moving to Tryon. He then became a member of Lynn First Baptist Church in Lynn, N.C.
Preceding Mr. Olmstead in death were his parents, Earle A. and Beulah Vittitoe Olmstead, and wife Annie Belle Olmstead, who died in 2015.
Surviving are his daughter, Pam Lammers and husband Keith of Tryon; sons, Mike Caldwell and wife Ruth of Saluda, Richard Olmstead and wife Diane and Allen Olmstead all of Edmond, Okla.; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2016 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Reverend Jimmy Owens officiating. Burial will be in West Memorial Park.
