Oh, the promises we make to get what we want—and the problems we run into when we don’t follow through on what we promised! Even a princess has to face the music, as we will see in Theatre IV’s production of “The Frog Prince,” presented as part of the Super Saturday lineup on March 19.

 

A division of Virginia Repertory Theatre, Theatre IV was founded in 1975 as Virginia’s first professional theatre for young audiences. Over the years the company has staged productions that address a number of difficult topics, including slavery, drug abuse, and adolescent pregnancy.

 

They became the first professional theater in the country to perform within the Pentagon walls when their production of “Buffalo Soldier” was chosen by the Pentagon as a morale booster after 9/11.  They have received numerous awards and today tour 31 states and the District of Columbia.

 

“The Frog Prince” is based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale. This production features both human and puppet characters and promises to leave the audience with food for thought about actions and their consequences. Look for the show at the Episcopal Church at 9:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. on Super Saturday.
