Mary Ellen Krydynski

Mary Ellen Krydynski, 73, of Tryon, N.C. passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016 at Regional Hospice Home, Spartanburg, S.C.

Born in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Kelly Geotzinger. She moved to Spartanburg, S.C. in 1981 coming from Lansing, Ill. Mrs. Krydynski earned her degree as a Nurse Practioner from Purdue University. She later moved with her family to Tryon, N.C. in 1997, partnered with Dr. Jeffrey Viar and opened Foothills Medical Associates. She was very active in the community serving on numerous boards, president of Steps to Hope, Habitat for Humanity, Rape Crisis Center and education board at USC Upstate. Mrs. Krydynski was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Tryon, N.C. She was honored with the distinction of NC Nurse Practitioner of the year.

Surviving is her husband of 53 years, Vincent J. Krydynski, Jr.; two sons, Vincent J. “Rusty” Krydynski (Loretta) of Orland Park, Ill. and John F. Krydynski (Frances) of Spartanburg, S.C.; two daughters, Kathleen Byrd of Tryon, N.C. and Suzanne Flynn (David) of Duncan, S.C.; six grandchildren, Hannah, David Tyler, Logan, Mary Kaitlyn, Jack and Brice.

A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 in St. John’s Catholic Church, Tryon, N.C. with Father Roger Arnsparger officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Steps to Hope, P.O. Box 518, Columbus, NC 28722.
