Polk sheriff’s office arrests Mill Spring man for larceny of tools

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Mill Spring man recently accused of breaking into a Sunny View residence and taking nearly $2,000 worth of tools and some credit cards.
Nyjyl Stephen Barnes, 35, of 65 Gertie Mae Drive, Mill Spring was arrested and charged with felony breaking and entering and larceny, according to sheriff’s office reports.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division received a report of a residence being broken into along NC Hwy. 9 in Sunny View. The victim reported the tools being taken as well as various credit cards stolen as well, according to the sheriff’s office.
Barnes is still being held at the Polk County Detention facility under a $10,500 secured bond. Barnes already had his first appearance in court and is being represented by attorney William Sullivan.
The sheriff’s office says the investigation is still ongoing and more charges are possible.
