Ron Mosseller, author of Funny Things Happen When I Look The Other Way, will be speaking about the book at Lanier Library Feb. 16.

Tryon author Ronnie Mosseller will speak at Lanier Library’s Brown Bag Lunch on Tuesday, Feb. 16, sharing his life and adventures as told in his memoir, “Funny Things Happen When I Look the Other Way.”

Mosseller’s book, with great humor, details an adventurous life of artistic rug making with his mother and siblings, a life that took the family to New York City during the 1930s. The Mills-Mosseller Studio was in operation in Lynn for nearly 50 years, and Mosseller learned rug making from his mother.

Their tapestries and rugs, called “fine paintings in wool,” are on display all over the country, including at the Smithsonian Institution, the Williamsburg Inn at Colonial Williamsburg and the governors’ mansions in North Carolina and Virginia.

Mosseller is also a sculptor and works in watercolor and pen and ink. His most recent art project was illustrating Robin Edgar’s children’s book, The Day Morris Quit, published last year.

Brown Bag Lunch programs are held in the library at noon on the third Tuesday of each month and are free and open to the public. For more information about becoming a member of Lanier Library, stop in during open hours or visit lanierlib.org.
