Virginia Arledge Mills

Virginia Arledge Mills of Columbus, N.C. passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 9, 2016 in St. Luke’s Hospital.

A native of Polk County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Butler and Blanche Covil Arledge and widow of William “Brownie” Mills who died in 1988. Virginia was a faithful charter member of Midway Baptist Church her entire life. She retired from textiles.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dot Mills; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by one son, William Mills (Linda); two daughters, Eva Mills McCallister (Ricky) and Deborah Mills Bradley (Joel) all of Columbus, N.C.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Jeanette Rhodes of Saluda, sisters, Clyde Henson of Tryon, N.C. and Harriett Case (Delbert) of Columbus, N.C.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016 in Midway Baptist Church, Columbus, N.C. with Rev. Peter McDonald and Rev. Lloyd Howard officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the church.

Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, N.C.

At other times, the family will be at the home of Deborah and Joel Bradley.
