A man from Rutherfordton was arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office last week for stabbing another man in Green Creek.
Kenneth Dale Greene, of Strawberry Rd., Rutherfordton was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, according to sheriff’s office reports.
Lt. Lowell Griffin of the sheriff’s office said on Dec. 31, officers responded to a report of an altercation involving a victim who had been stabbed in the neck.
The incident occurred in a vehicle near the intersection of Lee Cudd and Poors Ford roads in the Green Creek community.
Officers arrived to find the victim, John McSwain, who had suffered a stab wound to the front lower area of his neck.
McSwain was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and later released, according to the sheriff’s office.
Greene and McSwain were travelling in the same vehicle when an argument occurred and escalated into the stabbing, according to sheriff’s office reports. Officers said alcohol was a factor in the argument and stabbing.
