Polk County Local Government has the pleasure of announcing that two of its management level employees have recently earned college degrees.
On Oct. 24, 2015, Sonya Jackson Ballard, mother of four and Polk County Transportation Manager, received her associate degree in accounting from the University of Phoenix. Mrs. Ballard’s commitment to expanding her business skills has already proved useful to the county with her ability to support the administrative and operations processes of the Transportation Department. This year she will begin her pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Liberty University.
On May 12, 2015, Bobby Arledge received his associate of science degree in fire protection technology degree from Blue Ridge Community College. Mr. Arledge intends to use his degree to help better serve the people of Polk County as Emergency Management Director/Fire Marshal.
“This is a great example of Polk County’s employees bettering themselves through their desire to achieve an education and we are very proud of both of them,” said Marche Pittman, Polk County manager.
