The Saluda Historic Depot along with the Historic Saluda Committee are proud to host the film premiere of one of Saluda’s very own, Dr. George Alexander Jones on Sunday, January 10, 2016, 3 to 5 p.m. at the Saluda Historic Depot, 32 W. Main Street, Saluda, N.C.

Scanning History, produced by One Life, One Legacy™ Film Studios, Flat Rock, N.C., is a film about an intimate story of life in the early days of the Joneses in Saluda and Hendersonville, as well as the people in and about Western North Carolina, Kentucky, and Beaufort, South Carolina. The firm length is 40 minutes.

At a fundraiser for the Saluda Historic Depot in March 2015, Dr. Jones said, “I am the oldest living person born in Saluda. I’ll be 95 years old in August. The rest of you are late comers or just arrived.”

Dr. Jones, historian and founder of the Henderson County Genealogical and Historical Society, advised Saluda citizens to participate in the purchase of the depot.

“It’s a valuable opportunity. You have an opportunity to participate in it, you’ll never regret it, and as you develop it you will all be proud. I hope you all respond, readily,” said Dr. Jones. Dr. Jones was instrumental in working with Henderson County to restore the historic courthouse.

Included in the program will be an introduction of the making of the film with Dr. Jones and Patricia Bradley the film’s producer. As a special treat, we’ve included a short outtake clip from the film, Talkin’ History in Saluda, where we find George and business owner and city commissioner, Leon Morgan, swapping stories on a rainy day while hanging out at Saluda’s M.A. Pace General Store.

So come on up to the Top of the Grade in support of the Saluda Historic Depot and enjoy the screening of this film while visiting with friends. This is a free event and is open to the public. If inclement weather, please check with organizers for event schedule.
