Sparkle and glitter at Tryon Midnight
Published 10:00 pm Monday, December 21, 2015
Get ready to welcome 2016! Tryon Midnight is just around the corner. Downtown Tryon will once again be filled with the sights and sounds of good music, children playing and lots of laughter and fellowship from 7 until 10 p.m.
Make sure to wear your dancing shoes so you can groove to the DJ stylings of Tryon’s own Andy Millard at the Clock Tower. And of course it wouldn’t be Tryon Midnight without Andy’s “partner in crime,” Dean Trakas. Again, Dean will be there to make sure the ball drop goes off without a hitch.
Yummy hot chocolate will be served until it runs out. You may have it with or without marshmallows. Local restaurants will be open late for a delicious downtown meal if you get hungry but we suggest you make reservations if you plan to eat downtown! Children’s activities this year include hula – hooping, checkers and other board games, chalk art and face painting.
New this year will be a fireworks display. Make sure that you are in Town to see this spectacular show which will start just after the ball drop at 9 p.m. The ball drop will see a new time this year at 9 p.m. with the hopes of keeping all you “youngsters” in town. Then after these festivities you can dance until 10 p.m. and still be somewhere to watch that “other ball” drop at midnight.
This event is made possible by the Polk County Community Foundation Free Community Events Program and produced by the Tryon Downtown Development Association. For more information, please visit www.downtowntryon.org or call 828-859-6484.
