Steve Metcalf

Steve Metcalf, 61, of Tryon, N.C., passed away Wednesday, Dec.16, 2015 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital after a long illness with his family by his side.

 

Steve attended Tryon High School and spent his career at William Barnet where he worked for 38 years. He attended New Hope Baptist Church in Landrum, S.C.

He was preceded in death by his father George Metcalf in 1980. He is survived by his mother,

Frances Metcalf and his wife of 42 years, Deborah Smith Metcalf; daughter, Carey Metcalf Hudson (Shannon); grandchildren, Hannah Emory, Jessie Emory, Halle Hudson, Brooke Hudson; brother, John Metcalf (Julie); and sisters, Libby Justice (Gene), Linda Metcalf Raines, Mary Greene (Aaron); and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and wonderful friends whom he loved dearly. Steve was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend, and his passing leaves a great void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

 

Funeral services will be held at Petty Funeral Home in Landrum, SC, Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at 12 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Services will be conducted by Reverend Caleb Bruce and Morris Ruff. Music will be provided by Nikki Baker and James Metcalf. Burial will be held at Mountain Page Cemetery in Saluda, N.C. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Carey Metcalf Hudson, in Tryon, N.C.
